Set Building Fun!

jason Ministry

The play is coming up quick and so my class has risen to the occasion and has been really working hard to get things rolling.   Our load-in day is next wednesday and so we have been working hard to build various set pieces that we will assemble on stage.  In the photo we are beginning the “aging” process because our set will look like it came from wild-west when it is completed…

Collaboration is the best thing to pray for us over the next few weeks.  There are a lot of moving parts coming together and we need to mesh well for the production come off well.

C4TK Manila

jason Ministry

These last few months Jason has had the chance to begin to speak into the tech world here in Manila. In October, I had the chance to co-lead a hackathon, where we changed philippine techies to come up with solutions to help out the many overseas foreign workers.  Some great ideas were hatched and I enjoyed getting to know the guys who came out and it was great to explore the idea of how our Faith and work can connect.  God did an amazing job pulling together a great leadership team for the event and I am looking forward to see how God will use our team this year.  Our team is looking into the how we can continue develop the Faith and Work connection here in the tech industry here in Manila.

ICEC Teachers Conference

Sarah and many teachers from Faith got to go to a teachers conference at The International Christian School of Hong Kong. The school paid for her flight and the ticket for the conference and Sarah stayed with Wade and Kate Simons who work at the school.  Wade and Kate came worked for a year at Faith and so it was great for Sarah to go and reconnect with the family again.  Sarah came away from the conference really encouraged and energized.  It was great to have some time to think about classroom strategy outside of the classroom itself.

Cadd Christmas Programs

jason Ministry

These last few months have been pretty full for Jason with theater events.  This last semester we did the Pirates of Penzance and Shakespeare’s 12th Night as well as 4 band, choir, string, and concerts with both Middle School and High School groups.    I (Jason) thank God that I have a great team of staff and students around me to help me carry out these events.  It is great to help my team to develop their skills and use them to serve God and the community of missionaries working in SE Asia.  This picture is from the elementary christmas program where I (Jason) got to partner with our new elementary music teacher, she did a great job of organizing over a 100 kids into a fantastic program.

To Thailand and Back

jason Family, Ministry

Over our October break this school year, we were able to go to Thailand and join other WV Asia staff for a conference.  We had the quite the adventure, got to meet new people, eat new food and have some new experiences.

The overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai

So we decided to be adventurous and we took the overnight train.  It was good, I was not sure if the kids were going to sleep but after a long day of traveling it was not hard to convince them to sleep.   I (jason) was not sure that I was going to sleep but the rocking of the cars and a blindfold did me in.  Next morning we woke up to beautiful countryside and a fun video call from my sister.  Who knew that thailand had high speed internet in the middle of nowhere.

ACSI Teachers Conference

jason Ministry

I love to partner with like minded organizations and this week I got the privilege to partner with ACSI Philippines as they lead a teachers conference for schools in our area.  It was great to worship with them and listen to the speaker challenge these teachers on how they can better integrate God’s word into their class room and give them ideas on how they can be better teachers.  – This is why I do what I do!
